Uber returned to Poland with a new formula: since 2024, every driver must hold a taxi licence and have a taxi stamp in the vehicle registration document. The good news - this whole process takes about a week if you go through a recommended fleet partner. Here is exactly what to do, in what order, and how long each step takes.
Step 1: application and pre-screening
The first step is the form on the homepage. Leave your phone number and a consultant calls back the same day. On that call we check three things: age and driving licence (category B, minimum 2 years of experience - Uber's requirement), no serious criminal record, and whether your car meets platform requirements. If everything fits, we start gathering documents.
Step 2: documents - what you need
The list is longer than for Bolt, because Uber requires the full taxi package. You need:
- criminal record certificate (from the Information Point KRK or via e-KRK)
- medical certificate from an occupational health doctor
- psychotechnical tests at a certified centre (cost 150-250 PLN)
- taxi licence for passenger transport
- taxi stamp in the vehicle registration (obtained at the transport department)
- vehicle extract from the fleet partner licence

Step 3: vehicle requirements
Uber in Poland accepts cars from 2015 or newer. Minimum 4 doors, working air conditioning, good technical condition. A valid technical inspection and standard civil liability insurance are required (not taxi OC as in Bolt). Step 4: registration in the Uber Driver app
With documents complete, you set up an account in Uber Driver (Android 8.0+ or iOS 16+). You upload documents, take a selfie, Uber verifies identity and legal status. With a well-prepared set it takes 24-48 hours. Full app configuration - Uber Driver app.
Step 5: first trip
After activation you go online and start accepting trips. In the largest cities (Warsaw, Kraków, Wrocław) the first trip usually comes within minutes of turning on the app. Uber pays weekly, and a driver in our network earns on average 6,000-9,000 PLN monthly full-time.
How long does the whole thing take?
If you already have a medical certificate and clean criminal record - the full process takes 5-10 working days. The longest wait is the taxi licence (up to 14 days depending on the city) and the taxi stamp (1-3 days in most transport departments).
