Many drivers in our network earn 9,000-11,000 PLN monthly instead of 7,000-8,000 - simply because they drive with Uber and Bolt at the same time. This is no illegal "double-dipping" - it is a normal practice both platforms accept. The key is good document prep and a trip acceptance strategy.
Why it is worth running two apps
With only one app on, part of your hours are spent "empty" - the app sends nothing and you circle town burning fuel. Adding a second app slashes this time. Hard numbers: a Uber-only driver in Warsaw is with a passenger 62% of the time, Uber + Bolt - 78%. That is 16 percentage points difference in time usage, or around 1,500-2,500 PLN extra per month.
What you need - documents
Uber requires the taxi stamp, vehicle extract from the fleet licence, taxi licence and standard civil liability insurance. Bolt requires the taxi licence, taxi OC, but not the taxi stamp or extract. In practice, to drive with both - you need the full set:
- taxi licence (one, covers both platforms)
- taxi stamp in the vehicle registration (mandatory for Uber)
- vehicle extract (mandatory for Uber)
- taxi OC (mandatory for Bolt; Uber accepts standard OC, but taxi OC overrides)
Uber document details: Taxi stamp and vehicle extract.
In practice - two phones or one
The most comfortable - two phones. One in the left-hand holder, one on the right. Or one phone with both apps on, toggled. Option two works but requires constant switching. Two phones are a small investment (a second-hand one for 500 PLN) and a big workflow improvement.
Acceptance strategy
Base rule: never accept a second trip while on the first one. If you are with an Uber passenger and Bolt sends you a request - decline or switch Bolt offline for the duration of the trip. The passenger cannot wait because you took someone else. Exceeding 20% decline rate lowers your rating and risks suspension.
Which app first
When parked at a stand and both apps are online, react to whichever pings first. No point waiting for a "better trip". Average trip rates in both platforms differ by 2-5%, and waiting for "something better" eats that difference many times over.
Bonuses - where are they bigger
Both programmes (Uber Quests and Bolt Challenges) pay bonuses for trip counts. On average Uber pays larger one-time bonuses (250-400 PLN per weekend), Bolt pays more frequent smaller bonuses (50-150 PLN daily). Active drivers pick up 800-1,500 PLN extra monthly from both.
Settlement - two partners or one
Departner handles Uber and Bolt drivers on a single contract. That means one weekly transfer from both platforms. One PIT-11 at year-end. One account in the panel. Splitting between two partners means two transfers, two panels, two accounts - more hassle without real benefit.
What about FreeNow
FreeNow is a third option - smaller trip volume but steady business clientele. Adding FreeNow as a third app makes sense in Warsaw and Kraków, where traffic is so strong that a third app will also "catch on". In smaller cities - no, it just distracts. Comparison: Uber vs Bolt vs FreeNow.
